Statement regarding John Elliott
We act on behalf of John Elliott who has filed a complaint with PONI in relation to allegations that PSNI failed to investigate his case.
We have issued pre action correspondence to PONI to challenge the appointment of a former RUC and PSNI officer to the post of Chief Executive.
Speaking on the case Mr Michael Clements of KRW LAW Public Administrative Litigation Dept said,
“We say there is a conflict in this appointment. We argue it is unreasonable, irrational and undermines the statutory objective of PONI which is to provide independent, transparent and effective investigation of police misconduct and criminality. Our client has an apprehension of bias on how his complaint will be handled.”
