STATEMENT RELEASED ON BEHALF OF ANN DOHERTY IN RELATION TO THE DISAPPEARANCE OF HER TWIN SISTER MARY BOYLE

STATEMENT RELEASED ON BEHALF OF ANN DOHERTY IN RELATION TO THE DISAPPEARANCE OF HER TWIN SISTER MARY BOYLE

KRW LAW LLP is instructed by Ann Doherty in relation to the disappearance of her twin sister Mary Boyle.  In recent days there have been a number of publications in respect of the disappearance of Mary Boyle, and the recently published documentary ‘Mary Boyle: The Untold Story’ by Gemma O’Doherty.

On Tuesday 12th July 2016 the national newspaper The Irish Daily Star published a story entitled ‘Cold Case Cops Launch Mary Probe’ in which it was claimed that An Garda Siochana had taken a decision to pass the case of Mary Boyle to its Cold Case Review Team.  It is deeply troubling, that a decision was taken to provide such a development in an exclusive to a national newspaper, before conveying same to our client.

Our client, Ann Doherty has still not been contacted by An Garda Siochana to confirm the contents of the article and therefore we are not in a position to confirm or displace the accuracy of whether or not there is in fact a fresh probe into the disappearance of Mary Boyle, on foot of the recently published documentary.  We have corresponded with the Gardai this morning seeking urgent clarification.
Our client will now be proceeding by way of a formal complaint to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (“GSOC”) seeking for urgent action to be taken in respect of the publication.
