Statement from Professor Colin Harvey

Following recent revelations about the use of anonymous social media accounts, and given questions that have been raised today with me, it might be helpful if I provided the following brief public statement.

First, I extend my solidarity and support to all affected by the actions of those behind the ‘Barbara J. Pym’ twitter account, and related activity. Hopefully those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.

Second, over recent years I have been subjected to relentless attacks on my professional integrity as a consequence of my active involvement in the growing conversation about constitutional change on this shared island. I remain profoundly shocked and distressed by their scale, depth and extent.

Finally, given the evolving factual situation, I will be seeking further legal advice from my solicitor. I do this primarily to ensure that no one else who is involved in the work for constitutional change here has to go through the same experience.
