Damien Walsh Murder 25.03.2021 – Police Ombudsman Report

KRW LAW LLP is instructed by Mrs. Marian Walsh, mother of Damien Walsh (Deceased).

Seventeen year old Damien Walsh was murdered by the Ulster Freedom Fighters on 25 March 1993 at the Dairy Farm shopping complex on the Stewartstown Road, Belfast.

On 25 March 1993, Damien Walsh was working at the Coal Bunker on the Stewartstown Road in Belfast when terrorists from the UFF shot him several times.

The UFF claimed responsibility for the murder and pointed to the subsequent find of explosives proximate to the place where he was murdered, a find made more logistically easy for the RUC after the area was cordoned off following this murder.

The Dairy Farm shopping complex had been under observation by the British military at the time of the murder. The observation post was positioned in the hills overlooking the location of the murder from which the British military watched the murder take place.

Damien Walsh’s mother, Marian made a complaint to the Office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland in 2004 and has awaited over 17 years for completion of the investigation concerning her allegations that the RUC colluded with the loyalist paramilitary group in the murder of her son.

The findings of that investigation are due to be published on 22 July 2021 in the Police Ombudsman, Statutory Report, Public Statement by the Police Ombudsman in accordance with Section 62 of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998.

Damien’s family including his mother Marian and supporting NGO RFJ together with KRW LAW solicitors will meet later in the day with press representatives at 2 00 pm outside 39 Glen Road BELFAST.
